General Mills commits $250,000 to aid relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy


MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.  – In response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast of the United States Monday and Tuesday, the General Mills Foundation today announced a commitment of $250,000 to aid disaster relief efforts.

The financial commitment will be made to the American Red Cross and Feeding America. Of the total contribution, $125,000 will go to the American Red Cross and $125,000 will go to Feeding America to help the communities that were devastated by the storm that has claimed more than 100 lives from Haiti to Canada.

"Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones and those who are still suffering through the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, including some of our own employees," said Ellen Goldberg Luger, General Mills vice president and General Mills Foundation executive director. "We are eager to support the critical work being done by our dedicated partners, the American Red Cross and Feeding America, as they bring relief to those affected by this terrible storm."
