Old El Paso™ Declares “National Taco Day-Off” with a Cowboy Getaway Worth Saddling Up For

In celebration of National Taco Day, fans can enter for a chance to win an Elroy-inspired ranch escape from Old El Paso.
Saddle up and celebrate National Taco Day-Off with Old El Paso’s cowboy, Elroy, and his two great loves — tacos and the great outdoors

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — National Taco Day isn’t just another food holiday for Old El Paso™ — it’s the biggest celebration of the year — and the Tex-Mex brand wants to give people the taco time off they deserve. This year, the brand is declaring October 7 “National Taco Day-Off” and offering fans the chance to win the cowboy-themed getaway of their dreams.

Need more work-taco balance? Maybe you need time to move (tacos into your mouth)? Whatever your reason for needing a National Taco Day-Off, Old El Paso wants to hear it. Fans can submit their time-off requests directly to the brand’s singing cowboy, Elroy, to get his stamp of approval via NationalTacoDay.OldElPaso.com — and be entered for a chance to swap office chairs for saddles with a two-night stay at the True Ranch Collection dude ranch property of  their choice.* Ten taco lovers and their plus-ones will embrace an authentic Elroy-style adventure. From trail rides and stargazing to Old El Paso merch, including leather boots and gold-plated belt buckles, winners will live out their cowboy dreams and look the part too.

And even if you don’t get the day off, Old El Paso is making it easy for anyone to lasso up taco deals — available only on National Taco Day. Simply purchase your choice of Old El Paso taco shells in any hard or soft variety on October 7 and submit your receipt the same day (on October 7) via the free Fetch app to receive your purchase price back in Fetch points (while supplies last).**

“At Old El Paso, we believe National Taco Day deserves to be more than just dinner. It should be a true celebration,” said Meredith Nelson Uram, Business Unit Director for Old El Paso at General Mills. “This year, we’re raising the stakes with Elroy leading the charge and giving fans a real reason to pause, unplug and live a little. It’s our way of helping fans make the most of the day and celebrate the joy that only tacos can bring.”

National Taco Day-Off builds on Elroy’s recent debut across Old El Paso’s latest ad campaign, including new spots that went live this month cementing him as the brand’s new cowboy icon.
