Food Safety and Quality

General Mills Food Safety & Regulatory Requirements:

All external partners that develop, produce, package, store or handle General Mills products or ingredients/packaging materials/premiums used for General Mills products must comply with applicable laws and regulations pertaining to food safety and must meet General Mills minimum requirements for food safety and regulatory compliance.

General Mills has policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines that define our minimum global requirements for a broad range of food safety and regulatory areas including but not limited to

  • regulatory compliance
  • managing regulatory contacts
  • traceability of materials and products
  • management of non-conforming product
  • management of critical incidents (recall, withdrawal)
  • good manufacturing practices
  • sanitation
  • integrated pest management
  • transportation, shipping, and receiving
  • labeling
  • claims
  • specifications
  • control of physical, chemical (including allergens) and biological hazards
  • ingredient and packaging material suppliers
  • raw agricultural commodities
  • food defense
  • food fraud mitigation

General Mills verifies compliance through General Mills verification processes and external certifications such as Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

When you become a General Mills partner, General Mills will provide more detailed expectations for food safety and regulatory compliance.
