General Mills to close facility in New Zealand

General Mills today announced it has completed consultations with employees, employee representatives and union officials at its manufacturing facility in East Tamaki, New Zealand, and has reached a final decision to close the facility by the end of this calendar year.

The company had announced a preliminary decision to close the East Tamaki facility on October 29, saying the decision was subject to consultation with employees, employee representatives and union officials. That consultation process is complete, and the company will now begin the necessary transition steps to complete the closure of the plant by the end of the calendar year.

The closure will impact 20 employees. General Mills said it will provide severance and transition benefits to all affected employees.

The East Tamaki facility manufactures fresh pasta, sauces, and refrigerated soup products. It has been operated by General Mills since 2002.
