Marie Pillai oversees the management of an approximately $10 billion portfolio encompassing:

  • Pension
  • 401k
  • Health Care
  • General Mills Foundation assets.

She is the lead contact for the finance committee of the General Mills Board.

As treasurer, she is responsible for the company’s:

  • Capital structure
  • Debt issuances
  • Share repurchase program
  • Insurance
  • Cash management.

Pillai joined General Mills in 2009 and served as interim treasurer from 2014 to 2015, when she successfully financed the Annie’s brand acquisition.

Prior to General Mills, she worked at Siemens as chief investment officer for its U.S. business.

She also spent 16 years at Procter and Gamble, progressing through a wide-range of financial leadership roles, including associate controller in East Europe and a global treasury role, in which she managed P&G’s $2.5B worldwide pension asset base, across a variety of benefit plan portfolios.

She was awarded the AiCIO Investment Innovation Award in 2013 and the Institutional Investor Award in 2015 for innovative strategies and fiduciary accomplishments.
