Embracing diversity helps us attract and retain top talent.

"Diversity plus inclusion equals business value. We connect with our consumers, customers and communities.” – Ken Charles, vice president, Diversity and Inclusion

We cultivate an inclusive environment by considering all dimensions of diversity – not just the primary areas of gender, race and sexual orientation – but also cultural aspects including values, preferences, beliefs and communication styles.

General Mills fosters inclusion by living all of our core values, including respecting, developing and investing in our employees.

Our employees are developed through participating in professional development training, mentoring programs, and employee and affinity networks, such as:

  • American Indian Council
  • Asian Heritage
  • Betty's Family LGBT
  • Black Champions
  • Hispanic
  • Middle East and North Africa
  • South Asian
  • Women in Leadership
  • Veterans

Learning to be an ally

Betty’s Family is a General Mills employee network that works to create an open environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees so that all employees are able to maximize their productivity.

In 2015, Betty’s Family conducted Ally 101 orientation sessions to help employees understand what it means to be an ally and how to become one.

Betty’s Allies are individuals who reach out and support the LGBT community at General Mills.

in equality or being sympathetic toward those who experience discrimination. Being an ally is about taking action to support equal civil rights and gender equality.
