Responsibility

Our accountability

Our chairman and CEO has ultimate accountability for environmental sustainability.

This is included in the chairman's annual performance objectives.

The Board of Directors’ Public Responsibility Committee regularly reviews the company’s sustainability objectives, strategies and performance.

The chair convences the Sustainability Governance Committee three times annually. The committee comprises operating and functional heads. It reviews and approves strategies, programs and key investments.

In addition:

  • Our chief sustainability officer, who reports to the executive vice president of Supply Chain and the senior vice president of External Relations, leads our global environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Executives in Supply Chain, External Relations and Sustainability have responsibility to develop, coordinate and execute programs to achieve companywide targets.

To ensure ownership across General Mills, relevant executives within business units, supply chain and production facilities are accountable for the parts of the targets that they control.
