Goodness Corner™


General Mills is proud of its “Goodness Corner™” innovation.

The Goodness Corner provides a clear, icon-based information system to help consumers quickly understand the nutrition or content benefits of products. This system is based on criteria established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for labeling regulation and potential claims.


Here are the Goodness Corner icons – and what they communicate:

icon Fat free – Contains fewer than 0.5 grams of fat per serving
icon Low fat – Contains 3 grams or less of fat per serving or per 50 grams if serving size is 30 grams or less
icon Vitamins & minerals – Contains “good source” (at least 10% of the Daily Value per serving) of the number of vitamins & minerals indicated on the icon
icon 100% vitamins & minerals – Contains 100% of the Daily Value per serving of the number of vitamins & minerals indicated on the icon
icon Good source of calcium – Contains at least 10% of the Daily Value of calcium per serving
icon Excellent source of calcium – Contains at least 20% of the Daily Value of calcium per serving
icon Good source of fiber – Contains at least 2.5 grams of fiber per serving or 10% of the Daily Value per serving
icon Excellent source of fiber – Contains at least 5 grams of fiber per serving or 20% of the Daily Value per serving
icon Good source of iron – Contains at least 10% of the Daily Value of iron per serving
icon Excellent source of iron – Contains at least 20% of the Daily Value of iron per serving
icon Can help lower cholesterol – Product can help lower cholesterol as part of a heart-healthy diet. See packages for details.

icon Calorie statement – Contains the number of calories per serving indicated on the icon
icon Naturally fat free – Contains fewer than 0.5 grams of fat per serving without the benefit of special processing, alteration, formulation or reformulation to lower fat content
icon Naturally low fat – Contains 3 grams or less of fat per serving or per 50 grams if serving size is 30 grams or less. There is no special processing, alteration, formulation or reformulation to lower fat content.
icon Low saturated fat – Contains 1 gram or less of saturated fat per serving, and 15% or fewer calories are from saturated fat
icon Low cholesterol – Contains 20 milligrams or less of cholesterol per serving or per 50 grams if serving size is 30 grams or less. It must also contain 2 grams or less of saturated fat per serving.
icon Good source of vitamin C – Contains at least 10% of the Daily Value of vitamin C per serving
icon Excellent source of vitamin C – Contains at least 20% of the Daily Value of vitamin C per serving
icon Excellent source of vitamin A – Contains at least 20% of the Daily Value of vitamin A per serving

* U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend eating at least 48 grams of whole grain per day.
