The General Mills Foundation focuses on grantmaking, employee gift-matching and scholarships. Through specific grant programs, such as Champions for Healthy Kids and Celebrating Communities of Color, the Foundation is able to focus on areas of particular need. Grants are targeted to youth nutrition and fitness, arts and culture, education, and social services. The Foundation's largest scholarship program, General Mills Challenge U, has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships since 1997.
As a food company, General Mills is also highly engaged in combating hunger. Working with America's Second Harvest, General Mills' food donations deliver needed food to food banks across the country.
Community Action also facilitates our brand partnerships with nonprofit organizations, such as Box Tops for Education and the Yoplait national sponsorship of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's Race for the Cure.
General Mills is proud of its strong tradition of volunteerism — and Community Action works to link employees and retirees with volunteer opportunities. About 78 percent of General Mills employees and retirees give back to their communities each year as volunteers.
