Job Overview

Quality Engineer

  • Apply your technical skills in a manufacturing environment to lead efforts in product and process improvement.
  • Use food chemistry knowledge and core technical skills learned during the Quality Associate Program to lead quality management programs and identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate core technical skills, including statistical process control, sanitary design and plant sanitation and inspection standards.
  • Be an active team member of the operations team as it relates to your product or manufacturing system(s).

Sensory Quality Engineer

  • Play the key role in measurement of finished products and ingredients from a sensory perspective.
  • Develop measurement systems.
  • Train and run sensory panels.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts.

Raw Material Quality Engineer

  • Ensure that all raw materials from our suppliers meet specifications and arrive defect-free at our plant facilities.
  • Interact with R&D Engineers and our Sourcing personnel to set requirements with our suppliers to ensure capability.
  • Troubleshoot issues at various plants.

Inspections Services Quality Engineer

  • Provide technical expertise to our manufacturing facilities in the areas of sanitation inspections and conformance to state and federal regulations for Good Manufacturing Standards.

Analytical Chemist

  • Support R&D, manufacturing, and QRO through development of new analytical methods.
  • Support plant operations.

Training and Development

As an experienced hire, you bring a strong background to General Mills. We supplement your past experiences with exceptional technical training opportunities. Training curricula is offered for specific product platforms, QRO functional training, product development, and general technical training. Most of these sessions are taught by General Mills employees who are experts in the field.

Education

Competitive candidates hold a bachelor's, master's or Ph.D. in food science, food microbiology, sensory science or chemistry, or a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, food process engineering, packaging engineering or industrial engineering.
