Job Overview
Promotion marketing plays an important role in many areas of General Mills. Rotations occur within the specialties below to allow for broad learning experiences. Unless noted, most promotion marketing positions are located at our World Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Promotion Planning Assistant and Promotion Planner
- Works closely with the Promotion Manager and Business Team to develop promotion objectives, strategies and programs consistent with overall brand marketing objectives.
- Builds and maintains a broad network of working relationships with agencies, vendors, tie-in partners, customers, and colleagues.
- Develop strategic plans to combat key brand issues and provide insight into new and innovative promotional opportunities.
- Helps coordinate program communications, acting as key liaison between Promotion Marketing, Marketing, Sales, agencies and suppliers and assisting with the development and execution of program materials and reports of program status and final results.
- Assist manager in maintaining promotion budgets.
In these positions, you could work in a variety of different areas:
- Division Equity Support: Provides consumer equity expertise to brand teams based on the objectives and business needs that align with brand architecture.
- Price Promotion Center of Excellence: Provides consumer price promotion expertise to brand teams, based on the compilation and analysis of historical data, competitive activity, current business conditions and ongoing research.
- Customer Promotion Planning: Provides promotion marketing expertise to our retail customers. Creates programs that provide a competitive advantage. Potential locations include Philadelphia, Penn., Atlanta, Ga., Cincinnati, Ohio, Phoenix, Ariz., and Minneapolis, Minn.
- Corporate Promotion Marketing: Provides planning expertise and execution for company's corporately promoted brands and events.
Training and Development
General Mills integrates on-the-job training, giving you exposure to all aspects of promotion marketing including: third party tie-ins, sponsorships, sampling, premiums, couponing, rebates/refunds and regional and account-specific promotions.
Education
Competitive candidates hold bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, public relations, communication or journalism or a MBA.
