Staying active and eating right is the focal point of Together Counts.
It's a national program designed to reduce obesity - particularly in kids - by 2015.
The interactive "Together Counts" website provides health tips, lets people record their activities and compare how they stack up against others.
Together Counts is part of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation's (HWCF) multiyear effort that brings together more than 150:
- Food and beverage manufacturers.
- Sporting goods companies.
- Insurance companies.
- Trade associations.
- Non-governmental and professional sports organizations.
The HWCF coalition that includes General Mills launched this array of tools to promote ways to help people achieve a healthy weight through energy balance. That means matching calories in with calories out.
The effort focuses on three critical areas: marketplace, workplace and schools.
