Jerry Young

Vice President, Controller

Jerald (Jerry) Young was appointed vice president, controller, and principal accounting officer of General Mills in August 2011.

He is responsible for the company’s planning and analysis, external and internal financial reporting, accounting policy and systems, and internal controls.

Young joined General Mills in 1992 as a senior finance manager in the Supply Chain organization.  He held several other finance roles within the operations and corporate groups prior to being named vice president of corporate planning and analysis for the Pillsbury division in 1997. He was appointed as the corporate controller for that business in 1999.

In July 2000, Young was named vice president of finance for the Bakeries and Foodservice division, a position he held for the next five years before assuming the role of vice president, internal audit, in 2005. In 2008, he was named vice president, Supply Chain, the position he held until his appointment as controller.

Young began his career at Rockwell International, where he held several technical roles before joining KPMG’s Minneapolis office as a management consultant in 1990.

He is a member of Financial Executives International.
